Ingredients

  • 1 cupMaida
  • 100 gramsMawa (khoya)
  • 3/4 cupCoconut powder
  • 3/4 cupPowdered sugar
  • 2 tbspGhee + for greasing
  • 1/4 cupWater
  • 1/4 tspCardamom powder
  • As requiredChopped badam, pista, cashews
  • as requiredRaisins
  • as requiredOil for frying

Steps

  1. 1

    Add mawa in a heated pan. Stir continuously to avoid burning at the bottom. Roast the mawa for 3-4 minutes on a low flame till it turns light pink.

    As the mava thickens add coconut powder. Add cardamom powder and mix well. Add chopped dry fruit s and mix well.

  3. 3

    Turn the stove off and allow it to cool for 3-4 minutes. Transfer it into a bowl. Add powdered sugar and mix well and keep it aside.

    Take maida in a mixing bowl.
    Add ghee. Pinch if salt optional
    Add water and knead it into a firm dough.

  5. 5

    Divide them into equal portions and roll them into flat balls between the palms.
    Roll it into flat big pooris
    Add a spoonful of the filling in the centre. Close the open ends of the dough upwards and seal it properly.

  6. 6

    Heat in a pan for frying.
    Add the modak one after the other in the oil and fry them.
    Flip them over and fry until they turn light brown.
    Remove and serve.
