Mouhammara (محمّرة) - Red pepper with walnut dip

Suitable for #vegan #vegetarian
One of my favorite dippings ever! It’s a popular appetizer in Lebanon and Syria that everybody loves 🇱🇧
To make red pepper paste (which we use for different purposes) we usually place +5kg of red peppers in the sun for 2 days to dry well before we blend them, but since you can’t guarantee the sun in the 🇬🇧 and I really wanted to make mouhammara right now I placed the red peppers in the oven and got almost the same result 🥳

Steps
- 1
Wash the red peppers, cut them into slices, remove the seeds and put the in a preheated oven for 45min
- 2
When the red peppers are ready and dry, put them aside to cool down then peel off their skins (discard the skin, we dont use that)
- 3
Crush the red peppers with a blender to get a paste texture like in the photo below
- 4
Add all the other ingredients to the red pepper and mix again with the blender until you get a creamy texture like hummus dip
- 5
Put the mixture in a dish, pour some olive oil and decorate with chilli flakes and walnuts
- 6
📌📌📌If you don’t want to use the oven for 45 min to only make a dipping, you can bake more red peppers, blend them, add them in a jar with olive oil to use later with different types of food 📌📌📌
