Steps
- 1
In a clean mixing bowl, sieve the flour. add sugar and margarine and rub to a bread crumb texture
- 2
Make a well and pour in the milk then using a wooden spatula, mix from the edges to the centre as you turn the mixing bowl. as soon as it is combined stop mixing so that air spaces do not escape
- 3
Dust your work surface and gently pour your dough. sprinkle some little more flour on the dough and gently form a ball. brush off the excess flour
- 4
Flip the dough and press to desired thickness. do not press too hard since air will escape. Using a cutter, divide the dough into equal sizes/pieces and arrange them on a greased baking tray
- 5
Whisk the egg and 2 tbsp milk so as to make the egg wash, then brush over your dough pieces generously
- 6
Bake them in the meddle section of a 200 degree celcius preheated oven for 15 minutes
- 7
Gently remove them and place on one end of a clean towel on a rack. cover them with the other side of the towel and allow to cool
- 8
Serve as a tea item and enjoy
