Ingredients

  1. Fried Chicken Coating:
  2. 4chicken thigh fillets (about 1 lb), sliced
  3. Salt to taste
  4. Pepper to taste
  5. 5 tablespoonsall-purpose flour
  6. 1 tablespooncornstarch (mix with the flour)
  7. 1large egg, beaten
  8. Oil for frying the chicken
  9. Honey Sesame Sauce:
  10. 3 clovesgarlic, peeled and minced
  11. Oil for sautéing (or unsalted butter)
  12. 1 tablespoonoyster sauce
  13. 2 tablespoonsketchup
  14. 1 tablespoonsweet soy sauce
  15. 1 tablespoonsugar (adjust to taste)
  16. 2 tablespoonshoney
  17. 1 teaspoonmushroom broth powder (or use chicken bouillon like Royco or Masako)
  18. Water as needed (not too much)
  19. 1 teaspoonsesame seeds, toasted briefly, set aside

Cooking Instructions

    For the fried chicken: Season the sliced chicken with salt and pepper, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

    - When adding water in step 3, use just enough to coat the chicken with sauce, so the dish doesn't become soupy.
