October brings the aroma of chestnuts and, of course, the classic castagnaccio! Here’s a simple and quick recipe (found online) to make and enjoy it by a cozy fireplace!
Steps
- 1
To make your castagnaccio, add 2 1/2 cups chestnut flour (300 grams), 1/3 cup pine nuts (50 grams), and 1/3 cup raisins (50 grams), previously soaked in water and drained, to a bowl.
- 2
Stir the ingredients with a spoon, then add 4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil and enough water to form a smooth, even batter.
- 3
You can add more mixed nuts, chocolate chips, or brown sugar to sweeten, but keep in mind that both chestnut flour and raisins are already quite sweet.
- 4
Bake the castagnaccio in the oven at 350°F (180°C) for 40 minutes.
- 5
Let it cool and enjoy your castagnaccio!
