Ingredients

  • 1/2 cupyellow Moong Dal
  • 1cucumber chopped
  • 1/2carrot grated
  • 1 tbspchopped coriander leaves
  • 1 tbsppomegranate arils
  • 1 tsplemon juice
  • 1/4 tspchopped green chilies
  • to tastesalt and pepper
  • as neededOnion chopped
  • as neededTomato chooped
  • 1/8 tspmustard seeds
  • 1 tspolive oil/ghee
  • 1/8 tspasafoetida

  1. 1

    Wash and soak the dal for 2-3 hours.
    Drain the dal and stand it in a colander to dry.

  2. 2

    Heat oil in a pan. Add asafoetida and mustard seeds. when it starts crackling add soaked dal and green chilies and saute for 2-3 minutes. Don’t overcook. It makes the dal dry. Switch off the flame. let it cool down for 10-15 minutes.

  3. 3

    Add rest of the ingredients to the salad and give it a good mix. The salad is ready. Serve immediately.
