Steps

Take refined flour and salt. Mix it.

Heat butter, and melt it. Now pour it into flour, rub the flour and butter together with the tips of your fingers. The mixture will appear like bread crumbs.

Add baking soda,vanilla essence. Mix well.

Now add milk and knead it. Keep kneading till the dough becomes soft. The dough should be soft and smooth. Cover it and keep aside for 15-20 min.

Now again knead it, now take small ball and place it on the back side of fork. Slowly roll it. Gently seal both the ends. the shape should look like a small snail shell. Make all like it.

Heat oil in a pan, fry on medium flame till they appear golden brown in color. Once they appear crisp and golden. Remove them.

Fry the rest of kalkal and sprinkle powdered sugar on them as well.
