Tomato Khatta is a favourite temple side dish from Odisha. On festival days and in temple prasads , it is a consistent side dish . It has a nice balance of sweetness and sourness to it. It's a quick and easy dish and goes very well with Dalma - another staple of Oriya cooking

Steps

Heat pan & add refined oil.

Then add panch phoron, curry leaves, grated mango ginger.

Saute it for one minute.

Then add sliced tomatoes, turmeric powder & salt.

Mix it well. Cook for 5 minutes (low flame). Stir occasionally.

After 5 minutes add cashew nuts, raisins & jaggery. Mix it well.

Cook till it becomes soft properly. Stir occasionally.

Add red chilli powder & cumin powder. Switch off the flame. Now ready to serve.
