Whole Wheat Hamburger with Beef and Cheese Filling

My kid was craving hamburgers like the ones sold at the supermarket, so I decided to make some since I had whole wheat flour at home! I made a beef filling, combined it with a fried egg, and added cheese! My kid devoured 3 of them at once, which made me so happy! 🤓❤️👍

Steps
- 1
Add lemon juice to the whole milk, stir well, and let it sit for about 10 minutes until the milk curdles.
- 2
Dissolve sugar in warm water, add yeast, and let it activate for 10 minutes until it looks foamy.
- 3
In a mixing bowl, combine flour, egg, and yeast. Stir well. Add milk and salt, and mix. Use a dough mixer to knead until the dough forms a ball, then add softened butter. Continue kneading for about 10 minutes until the dough is soft and elastic. Grease a large bowl with oil, place the dough in it, shape into a ball, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise until doubled in size.
- 4
Divide the dough into 12 equal parts. Shape into balls, place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and space them apart. Let the dough rise until doubled in size.
- 5
While waiting for the buns to rise, prepare the filling. Mix the two types of meat with egg yolks, tomato ketchup, BBQ sauce, salt, pepper, dried herbs, and breadcrumbs. Divide the mixture into 10-12 portions, shape into balls, then flatten slightly larger than the burger buns. Fry until golden or bake in an air fryer. I baked at 392°F (200°C) for 5 minutes on each side.
- 6
Preheat the oven to 482°F (250°C). Spray water on the buns, place a few ice cubes in the oven to create steam. Bake the buns for about 3 minutes until the surface sets, then spray water on them again. Continue baking for 15 minutes until both sides are golden brown.
- 7
Remove the buns from the oven. Cut them in half. The crust should be slightly crispy, and the inside soft.
- 8
Layer lettuce, meat, fried egg (if using), more lettuce, and mayonnaise, then enjoy.
