Steps
- 1
Heat a heavy bottom pan with 2 tbsp of ghee and add the semolina. Fry until a nice aroma forms. Do not change the colour.
- 2
Now add water and cook until the water evaporates.
- 3
Soak the saffron strands in hot milk before you start making Sheera.
- 4
Now add the saffron milk and cook again for few minutes. Keep stirring.
- 5
Add sugar and mix well. The sugar will dissolve and it will again become watery, so keep stirring and cooking until you reach the desired consistency.
- 6
When the water evaporates and it starts to reache into a halwa or sheera consistency, add the remaining ghee and stir.
- 7
Switch off when it starts leaving the pan and garnish with chopped almonds.
- 8
Serve hot or cold according to your preference 😋
- 9
Note : You can add cardamom powder or a pinch of camphor. I skip adding while making Kesar Sheera.
