Roadside kaalan

Every one is fond of the roadside snack "kaalan" which can also be called as "King of street foods". We can prepare this lip smacking kaalan fry at home using the available ingredients at home and serve as evening time snack!!!!

Every one is fond of the roadside snack "kaalan" which can also be called as "King of street foods". We can prepare this lip smacking kaalan fry at home using the available ingredients at home and serve as evening time snack!!!!
Steps

In a mixing bowl add all purpose flour, rice flour, turmeric powder, ginger garlic paste, coriander powder, cumin powder and salt and add water to make a thick batter. (a pinch of red kesari powder is optional in this step)

Add mushroom and cabbage into the batter and mix them well.Allow this mixture to marinate for 20 mins

Take the mixture in small dollops and deep fry them until golden and set them aside

Put all the curry base ingredients into a mixer and grind them into a fine paste by adding some water

Heat oil in a pan and add green chillies, and sliced onions till the onions are translucent.

Add the ground paste and stir fry them for 3-4 mins until the masala is cooked.

Now add the fried mushrooms and cabbage into the mixture and coat them well with the masala and add the required amount of salt. Cook for another 5 mins in low flame.

Turn off the stove, squeeze half a lemon and mix it gently. Garnish with onions and coriander. Tasty roadside kaalan is ready!!!!!
