Chilean Hallullas

This is another one of my recipes made during our quarantine period in Cerro Placeres, Valparaíso. This way, I didn’t need to go out to buy bread.

Steps
- 1
In a large bowl, use your fingers to rub the butter and salt into the flour.
Dissolve the yeast in the water.
Add the yeast mixture to the flour and form a ball of dough.
Place the dough on the counter and knead for about 10 minutes. Shape into a ball, cover with plastic wrap, and let rest for 15 minutes. - 2
Roll out the dough on the counter with a rolling pin. Use a biscuit cutter or a plate to cut circles about 1/4 inch (6 mm) thick and 3 1/2–4 inches (9–10 cm) wide. As you cut the circles, place them on a baking sheet dusted with flour. Prick the dough circles with a fork.
Cover with plastic wrap and let rest for about 30 minutes. - 3
Preheat the oven to 410°F (210°C) and bake for about 25 minutes, until the tops are golden brown.
If needed, turn the breads over when the bottoms are golden so both sides brown evenly.
