Sliced the onion and put in cold water to soak while preparing the base mix

Mix flour, baking powder, spices and chopped chilli, add a pinch of salt. Mix in about 100ml of water to make a thick batter

Drain the onion well and mix into the batter. Heat about 2 inch of oil in a small sauce pan or wok. To be sure the oil is hot enough but a tiny bit of bater in it if it rise and make bubble it's ready.

Use a spoon to put the bhaji mixture in the frying oil and cook for a few minutes, turning once until they are envenly browned. About 90sec each side.
