Tiramisù is one of the most well-known and classic desserts from Roman cuisine. This layered dessert is made with ladyfingers soaked in coffee and filled with a creamy mascarpone mixture. A true delight!
Steps
- 1
Separate the egg yolks from the whites and combine the yolks with the sugar. Beat with a mixer until the mixture is pale and fluffy.
- 2
Add the mascarpone, which should be at room temperature for about 5 minutes to soften, and mix until smooth.
- 3
In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gently fold them into the yolk and sugar mixture, mixing from the bottom up to keep the mixture light.
- 4
Spread a layer of the cream in a dish. Place the coffee-soaked ladyfingers side by side on top to form the first layer. Repeat the process for additional layers.
- 5
Finally, cover the top layer of cream with unsweetened cocoa powder and, if you like, chocolate chips. Refrigerate the dessert for about 3 hours. Your tiramisù is ready to enjoy!
