Steps
- 1
Place the flour in a bowl. Rub in the margarine and oil, then add the egg. Gradually add orange blossom water and knead until you get a soft dough. Let the dough rest for 2 to 4 hours.
- 2
Combine the peanuts with the sugar and moisten with 1/4 cup orange blossom water. Do not knead; just mix until moistened and let it rest.
- 3
On a work surface dusted with cornstarch, divide the dough into two portions. Divide each portion into five balls. Roll out each ball, dusting with cornstarch as needed. Stack the five rolled pieces on top of each other, then roll them out together to form one thin, layered sheet.
- 4
Place one sheet of dough in a medium-sized baking pan greased with margarine. Spread the peanut filling evenly over the dough. Prepare the second portion of dough the same way and place it over the filling.
- 5
Cut the baklava into pieces, decorate the top with peanuts, brush with melted margarine, and bake at 350°F (180°C) until golden brown on top and bottom.
- 6
Once out of the oven, pour cool honey over the hot baklava. Let it rest for about 3 to 4 hours before serving. Enjoy!
