It translates to 'bite sized' dumplings and are traditionally made in Ramadan. These are fried and then coated with Date syrup. But they can be sweetened with Sugar syrup too. Simple dessert with minimal ingredients. Can be used as snack and served at tea-time. Crunchy on the outside and soft melt in mouth texture inside. Can be topped with Sesame Seeds. And as a twist to them, they can be garnished with slivered Dry fruits and drizzled with Chocolate syrup or melted Chocolate too. The variations are endless. No matter how you serve them, they taste still the same. Absolutely delicious and delightful.
Happy Month of Ramadan everyone!

Steps
- 1
Add all the ingredients mentioned to a bowl and mix with the help of a spatula or a ladle. Milk depends upon the quality of the flour used. So use it accordingly. It must be a smooth but a semi thick batter. Do not knead like a dough. It's very sticky too. Keep aside well covered for about 30-40 minutes.
- 2
Since it's Summer season, the batter gets fermented very soon. Heat Oil on a low heat. Take two spoons and drop small balls of the batter into it pushing it with the help of another one. It is important because the batter is sticky and you cannot drop the balls easily. Please take care while frying them. They get done very easily and frying doesn't take much of your time.
- 3
Make a one string consistency sugar syrup adding Cardamom powder and a few strands of Saffron. After done with frying, dunk these little balls in this warm sugar syrup. Toss well to coat all of them. Serve immediately. Enjoy!
