Peel and wash potato and cut into two pieces. Heat oil in Kadai and fry potatoes till light brown. Keep aside.

Then add little oil. Fry bay leaf, green cardamom, cinnamon and cumin seeds for few minutes. Fry onion till light brown in colour and add all dry ingredients, tomato, green chilly, garlic, ginger, cumin seeds, coriander seeds and make a paste. Add this paste and fry till raw smell of masala goes off. Then add water as needed and salt. Cover and cook till green ma tar become tender.
