A basic sponge cake you can enjoy with tea. You can use this as the base and frost as you wish.
Steps

Separate the egg whites and yolks in two separate mixing bowls.

Now take the whites add salt, vinegar and sugar little by little and beat till stiff peaks form. Beat gradually increasing speed till frothy.

To the yolk add vanilla essence and 1 yolk at a time to the whites and beat til welll combined.

Now add oil and milk little by little and gently mix.

Pour into a greased and dusted cake pan and tap twice to remove the air bubbles.

Place a sieve,add baking powder, baking soda followed by flour and corn flour in batches and mix using cut and fold method.

Bake in a preheated oven at 150°C for 30 minutes(bottom coil). Then increase temperature to 170°C and bake for 10 min (both top and bottom coil on).

Cool completely, flip and remove from cake pan. Cool on wire rack.Slice and enjoy!
