Soak 4 tsp poppy seeds in warm water for 2 hours.

Drain water and grind poppy seeds in the blender to a fine paste, add water if required and keep aside.

Heat oil in a wok add cumin, chopped green chilli and saute.

Now add chopped potatoes and cook on low flame.

Cook until potatoes turn slight brown or half done.

Add turmeric powder, salt and garam masala and mix.

Now add poppy seeds paste and mix well.

Cover the wok with a lid and cook on low flame till all the water dries up and the potatoes are cooked.

Do not over cook potatoes.

Serve aloo posto with rice or chapati.
