Steps

25-30 minutes
  1. 1

First of all, soak the rice and the dal seperately in drinking water. Add the fenugreek seeds and bengal gram to the dal while soaking.

  2. 2

Soak them for atleast 5-6 hours. Grind them seperately using water in which they have been soaked sparingly. Do not use much water. The batter should be semi thick.

  3. 3

Cover and allow it to ferment overnight. Add Salt in the morning and also some water if the batter is too thick.

  4. 4

Heat a cast iron griddle or a non stick pan and pour a ladleful of the batter onto it. Do not spread much. It should be thicker. Followed by the veggies, green chillies or the red chilli flakes and the chopped coriander. Drizzle ghee or oil on top and also on the sides. Flip it over and cook if you like more crispier uttappam for 1 more minute.

  5. 5

Serve them hot right away with any chutney or pickle of your liking.

Homemaker by choice and a passionate cook by heart. An aspiring cook who actually never knew anything about Cooking until i became a mother myself. With Motherhood came the responsibilities as well and this was the turning point in my life.I started to learn the ABC's of cooking, taking help from my mother and my MIL. And time just flew. I spread my wings higher and higher. With my love for excellence and innovation, i stepped into a world of homecooks with my exposure to Cookpad one fine day on the social media. And there was no looking back since then and i have not only shared recipes here on this wonderful platform but also have made some lovely friends as well. Today iam successful because of my hard work, dedication and loads of good wishes of my family and my kids in particular.
