Wash and soak basmati rice for 1 hour.Drain and keep aside.

Heat ghee in a pan,fry thinly sliced onion till golden brown.Take out on a paper napkin.

Add whole garam masala in the remaining ghee.

Add soaked rice and salt.Mix well.Add half fried onion.Add 4 cups warm water.Cover and cook till boil.

When boiling start,lower the flame to medium.Cover and cook for 5-7 minutes on medium flame.

Now rice is cooked well.Add orange food colour soaked in milk and also add kewra water.Cover the pan and leave for 5 minutes on low flame.

After 5 minutes put off flame.Leave on dum for more 5 minutes.Pulao is ready to serve. Serve with mutton/chicken curry,raita and salad.Garnish with fried onion and coriander leaves.
