Wash yellow moong dal and soak for 5 minutes.

Heat oil in cooker. Fry onion till it is brown in color. It is for beresta. Again add 1 tsp oil. Add cumin seeds and 1 dry red chilly. Saute it for few minutes. Fry onion till brown.

Add chopped tomato fry till the tomato become soft.

Add moong dal, turmeric powder, red chilly powder and grated ginger. asafoetida. Fry it for few minutes.

Add water and salt. Cook in Pressure cooker. Wait for 2 whistle. Once it is done. Cool it.

Transfer to a serving bowl. Spread berasta / fried onion and garnish with coriander leaves. Ready to serve...with chapati...
