Chop onions into medium size pieces.

In a pan, add cooking oil. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, turmeric and asafoetida. Add onions and cook for 3-4 minutes with lid.

Add red chilli powder, garam masala and salt. Cook for 2 minutes. Add besan and mix thoroughly.

Cook for 5 minutes with the lid closed and onion sabji is ready to serve.
