Lazy Day Pepper Chicken

The beauty of this dish is it's simplicity. Made with just 5 ingredients, this dish is a perfect accompaniment with roti, rice, toast or just as an appetizer. This dish can be made without a drop of oil. The king of spices Black Pepper gets it's due respect in this dish. No wonder it was one of the reasons India got into trouble long back for beings world’s only black pepper sauce. This smoky flavored no frills dish takes me to my bachelor days at grad school when one ingredient dishes ruled the meals day after day for many reasons :). If you want to really go for gold just use pepper salt and chicken; and then build your flavors on top.

Steps

30 mins
  1. 1

Wash and dry the chicken pieces. Marinate the chicken with ginger garlic paste, onions, pepper powder and salt. This dish can be made without any oil, you could add a tsp of oil to the marinate if you so wish. Marinate in refrigerator for at least 30 mins.

  2. 2

Cook the marinated chicken, covered on low flame for 15 minutes till it releases it's juices. Cook on medium flame once the chicken is cooked, stirring constantly. Cook till the dish accrues your desired consistency. I prefer semi gravy pepper chicken. Enjoy with you favorite carbs.

What is the point of keeping your talent, passion and creativity within you. Unleash it; change the world, one meal at a time :) We are sharing recipes that are either inventive or have taken years to perfect and are near to our hearts. It is also a tribute to our loving parents, whom we call umpteen number times in the middle of the night, when disaster strikes the recipe, asking them for help to resuscitate our dish. We promise to make every step accurate and clear. If you ever cook one of our recipes and don’t get the results, all I can say to you is that; we have been there and done that. You will figure out ways to salvage your dish unless you have turned it into a piece of charcoal. Even then you can try scraping off the carbon and see if there is a diamond inside. The diamond is the experience and the joy of cooking.
