Ingredients

  1. 350 gramOkra/ ladyfinger/ bindi
  2. 1 cuproasted gram flour
  3. 2 tablespoonCumin Coriander Powder
  4. 1/2 teaspoonturmeric powder
  5. 4 tablespoonachar (pickle)masala
  6. 1/2 cupchopped tomatoes
  7. 1/2 cupyoghurt
  8. Pinchsalt
  9. 3 tablespoonoil

Steps

  1. 1

    Wash and dry okra thoroughly and cut the tips of okra and make a slit in the middle.
    Grind the roasted grams to a fine powder and sieve.

    Add achar masala, salt, turmeric, cumin and coriander powder to the gram flour and mix well.
    Fill the okra with the mix. I had some left over so slit an onion and filled with the masala.

    On medium heat, add oil and cumin seeds in a wide bottom pan. Once it starts fluttering add the masala filled okra to the pan. Stir coating the okra with oil. Cover and cook for two minutes on low heat. Add in the chopped tomatoes and yoghurt and mix well. Cover and cook until the okra is tender. Remove from heat and transfer in a serving dish. Serve with roti,naan, paratha, rice, puri etc

    If you do not have roasted split grams and are using gram flour roast it in a pan using 1 teaspoon oil.

Hi all, my name is Rekha. I am Indian by birth, born in Uganda, East Africa, I now live in Wilby, Northamptonshire/England.I retired at the age of 60 due to severe arthritis. I am married, a mother and grandmother.I learnt to cook from my parents at a very young age of seven. I started to cook simple dishes for the family and gradually learnt how to cook. My mum use to cook at our shop where we sold Indian sweets and savouries. I have learnt a lot from my mum. I started cooking fusion dishes and learning from others. My strong point is making sweet dishes and innovating new dishes. I can improvise and be creative in leftover dishes.I love being on Cookpad because I can share and learn new recipes. I have also made a lot of friends.
