Ingredients

6-8 servings
  1. Filling:
  2. 1 lbground beef or venison
  3. 1yellow onion diced
  4. 1 cupcarrots diced
  5. 3 stalkscelery diced
  6. 1 cupportobello mushrooms diced
  7. 1 cangolden sweet corn
  8. 1 tablespoonbutter
  9. 2 tablespoonsflour or 1 tablespoon corn starch
  10. 1/2 teaspoonsalt and pepper
  11. 1/2 teaspoongarlic powder
  12. 1/2 teaspoononion powder
  13. 1sazon packet (not a necessity but I use it in everything)
  14. 2 cupsbeef broth
  15. 1beef bouillon cube
  16. 4 tablespoonsworstichire sauce
  17. 1 cup100% grape juice (NOT CONCENTRATE)
  18. 1small can tomato paste
  19. 2 stalksgreen onion diced
  20. For the topping:
  21. 10 medium sized potatoes
  22. 1/2 cupheavy cream
  23. 1/2 cupsour cream
  24. 1/4 teaspoonsalt
  25. 1/2 teaspoonpepper
  26. 1/4 teaspoonpaprika
  27. 1/4 teaspoononion powder
  28. 4 ozsoftened cream cheese
  29. 1 cupshredded cheddar jack cheese
  30. 3-4green onions diced

Cooking Instructions

    Take the diced onion, celery, carrots and mushrooms and place in a skillet on medium heat with butter and sauté until semi soft. About 5 minutes. Add in the ground beef or venison and cook until done.

    Mix in flour and cook one minute. Stir in everything else on the list for filling and bring to a boil.

    Reduce heat to simmer cover and cook 30 minutes.

    Mash the potatoes and stir in all the other ingredients for the potatoes.

    In a kettle wash and dice potatoes and cook until fork tender. And drain all water. Allow to dry 3-5 minutes.

    Heat oven to 375 and pour filling in a lightly greased baking dish. Top with potatoes and cheese. Bake 20-30 minutes until potatoes are golden brown on the edges and bubbly. You can pop it under the broiler for 3-4 minutes to make the cheese and potatoes extra toasty then top with green onion!
