Wash rice and add it to a pressure cooker. Now add 3 cups of milk and cook it in the pressure cooker for 3 whistles. Let the pressure cooker cool down itself.

Now add sugar and mix it well. Add custard powder in 2 tbsp of cold milk and add the slurry to the the rice mixture. Add a pinch of saffron and mix everything well. Now without covering the lid, cook everything on medium heat until it thickens. This will take around 7 to 10 minutes. Turn off the heat.

Now add cardamom powder, raisins and slivers of almond and cashewnuts. Serve rice custard pudding warm or cold.
