This is yet another twist to the usual routine morning breakfast preferred by people down South. And is equally popular throughout the Country. To these mouthwatering scrumptious Idlis, I have given a little twist by transforming them into Kababs. Not only that, I have chosen the colours of our Indian Tricolour or Indian Flag by using natural purees of Spinach and Carrots. Absolutely yummy with no artificial colours or ingredients. Kids will love to have this. They can be a good idea for Breakfast, Brunch or even Snacking. A best choice for everyday cooking and the best part is that it's light on stomach too.

Steps

30 minutes
  1. 1

Soak Rice and Dal separately for 5 hours. Grind them separately. Grind the Dal with minimal water. Add cooked Rice and Salt to this and leave to ferment overnight.

  2. 2

Grease the Idli moulds. Divide the batter into 3 parts. Pour the Idli batter as it is for the White colour. For the Green colour, add Spinach puree to the second part. For the Saffron, add the required Carrot puree.

  3. 3

Cut these Idlis and arrange them on Skewers. Tomato Onion Chutney, Coconut Chutney and Green Chutney can also be made to serve these yummy looking Idli Kababs.

  4. 4

For the Ashoka Chakra, i have used chocolate sprinklers. Enjoy!

Homemaker by choice and a passionate cook by heart. An aspiring cook who actually never knew anything about Cooking until i became a mother myself. With Motherhood came the responsibilities as well and this was the turning point in my life.I started to learn the ABC's of cooking, taking help from my mother and my MIL. And time just flew. I spread my wings higher and higher. With my love for excellence and innovation, i stepped into a world of homecooks with my exposure to Cookpad one fine day on the social media. And there was no looking back since then and i have not only shared recipes here on this wonderful platform but also have made some lovely friends as well. Today iam successful because of my hard work, dedication and loads of good wishes of my family and my kids in particular.
