Spinach helps to lower blood pressure, improve asthma problems, makes bones stronger. More the greener these Spinach leaves the taste would be amazing. Spinach dal goes very well with hot and steamed rice.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbspOil
  • 1 bunchSpinach
  • 150 gmstoor dal
  • 1Onion
  • 3Green chillies
  • 20 gmsTamarind
  • 1 tspMustard seeds
  • 1 tspCumin seeds
  • leavesFew curry
  • 1dry red chilli
  • pinchAsafoetida
  • 4Crushed garlic
  • as per taste Salt
  • 1 tbspred chilli powder
  • 1/4 tspTurmeric powder

Steps

    Clean wash the spinach or Palak leaves and finely chop them. In a pressure cooker add one cup of toor dal.

    Now add Palak, onion, green chilli, 200ml water.

    Close the pressure cooker and cook for one whistle.

    Once the pressure from cooker releases, mash it little with ladle. add chilli powder, turmeric, salt, tamarind. Add 100ml of water, mix well and simmer it in low flame for about 5minutes.

    In frying pan, for tempering add some oil, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, garlic, red chilli, asafoetida and curry leaves.

    Add the tampering or seasoning to Spinach/ Palak dal. Give it a good
    stir. It’s ready to serve with hot steamed rice or Chapathi.
