Ingredients

15-20 minutes
2-3 servings
  • 2 tbspchana dal (Bengal Gram Lentil)
  • 2 tbspurad dal (Split Black Gram Lentil)
  • 2 tbsptuvar dal (Pigeon Pea Lentil)
  • 2 tbspmoong dal (Split Green Gram Lentil)
  • 2 tbspmasoor dal (Split Red Gram Lentil)
  • 1onion chopped
  • 1 tspGarlic cloves (chopped)
  • 1 tspginger chopped
  • 2green chilies chopped
  • 2-3 tbspcoriander leaves, chopped
  • 1/2 tspcarom seeds
  • 1 tspflax seeds (opt)
  • to tastesalt
  • 1/2 tspturmeric powder
  • 1/2 tspred chilli powder
  • 1 tspcoriander-cumin powder
  • 1 tbspcoriander roots, chopped
  • For Tempering
  • 1 tspoil
  • 1 tspcoriander leaves, chopped
  • 1/2 tspcumin seeds
  • 1/2 tspsesame seeds

Steps

15-20 minutes
  1. 1

    Soak the lentils for 4-5 hours. Then grind to a smooth paste by adding very little water.

  2. 2

    In a bowl, mix the dal paste and all the other ingredients (except oil). Drop spoonfuls of the batter on a greased plate and steam for 15-20 minutes.

  3. 3

    Set aside to cool before transferring to a serving dish. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and enjoy these zero oil healthy small bites with tomato sauce or green chutney.

  4. 4

    Alternatively, it can be stir fried in a little bit of oil with a tempering of cumin seeds and sesame seeds.

  5. 5

    For this you need to heat oil in a pan. Temper with cumin seeds and sesame seeds. Saute for a few seconds and then switch off the flame.

  6. 6

    Garnish with coriander leaves and enjoy with tomato sauce or green chutney.
