Peel the skin and finely chop the vegetable (chow chow). Finely chop Onion

Wash and boil chana dall for 2 to 3 whistles and keep it ready

Grind coconut ginger garlic fennel seeds and green chillies to a paste

Heat a pan pour oil. Pop mustard seeds and urad dall. Add curry leaves. Break red chilli in to 2_3 pieces and add followed by chopped onion

Saute onion nicely. Then add the paste and fry for a minute. Add salt and turmeric powder. Give a stir

Transfer this to the pressure cooker and cook together with dall for one whistle.

After the steam settles down open the cover and mix well. Add water if required. Cook for another five minutes and turn off the flame

Chow chow koottu is ready to enjoy with rice and rasam
