Saamai Uppu Urundai
Cooking Instructions

Soak 500 gms of Saamai (Little millet) in water for ~4 hours. Add salt as required

Grind the soaked millet to a fine batter

Preheat the pan & add 3 - 4 tbsp of oil. Roast 1 tsp of mustard & 1 tbsp of chana dal.

Saute well. Add 1/2 tsp urad dal & 5 dry red chillies

Add curry leaves & pinch of asafoetida
- 6
Now add the millet batter & saute well till there is no lumps

Add 2 cups of grated coconut. Mix well and switch off flame. Make mould while the dough is warm.

Steam the millet balls for ~ 10 minutes

Tasty healthy millet balls is ready to serve. Saamai uppu urundai tastes best with onion chutney.
