I've long been a fan of Japanese/Korean grilled meat and this is one variation I enjoy. The Teppanyaki Sauce normally includes minced garlic which I have omitted again. 🇯🇵🥩🐄🔥

Cooking Instructions

In a small saucepan, put the mirin and let the alcohol evaporate on medium heat, 1-2 minutes. Mix in sugar.

Reduce heat to medium low, and add soy sauce, grated ginger, sesame oil, and sesame seeds. Let heat for 1-2 minutes. Set aside.

Place a lightly greased pan or grill on medium heat. Grill the sliced beef on all sides until done, 4-5 minutes. Serve with steamed rice, with the sauce on the side for dipping.

The rainy season has just begun and so now I've begun making hot pots. Most of the time the description has one cooking them on a portable stove but here I just keep it simple. I tried to recreate a dish from a pasta restaurant I used to frequent when I was working. I wonder if they still have it? It's a pasta restaurant near Kamiyacho Station on the Tokyo Metro.You could replace the soy sauce with this Shiso Garlic Soy Sauce. In that case, omit the garlic. Use whatever vegetables you like! I like to use coconut oil with my Asian cooking, though vegetable oil works well too. The word teriyaki means "shiny and grilled". The sauce should be clear with no soy or sesame added.
