Steps

Soak the tuvar dal in water in a bowl for 5 minutes or so.

Then wash the dal with fresh water.

After washing the dal add to it some water and pressure cook it for 3 to 4 whistles.

Then remove from the pressure cooker after it gets cooked.

To this cooked dal add a small bowl of water and the cut ginger, curry leaves and green chillies.

Let it boil nice. Add salt according to your taste

Meanwhile in a tadka container take coconut oil heat it add to it mustard seeds, dry red chilli and asafoetida.

After it gets hot and starts spluttering add this tadka to the dal. Give a last boil and it is ready to be served.
