Baked Methi Mathari

Mathries, the traditional, staple snack of most North Indian homes is usually eaten with mango or other pickle. School days we had Punjabi neighbor, we used to call her “Chaaiji” and she introduced my family to Mathari !! I still remember smell of her fresh Mathari ❤️. This recipe is dedicated to you chaijii . To a large bowl add all the dry ingredients and mix them with spoon. Now Add oil (or ghee) and rub the flour between your palms to incorporate the oil until it will turn crumbly.

Now, start adding water little by little to knead the dough. Cover and rest the dough for 15 to 20 minutes. Meanwhile pre-heat the oven to 375 F degrees.

Let dough rest for 1/2 hour. Later roll the dough with 1/2 inch thickness.

Now you can either use cookie cutter or pizza cutter to shape the mathri.Using a fork poke the mathris so that they don't rise much while baking. Repeat with the remaining dough. And place then on baking sheet.

Bake at 375 F degrees for 20-22 minutes, flipping them once half-way.Let cool and then store baked methi mathri in an airtight container.
