Ingredients

3 people
  1. 11/2 cupChana Dal
  2. 1 cupWalnut
  3. 2 tspFennel seeds
  4. to taste Salt
  5. 1 tspGaram masala
  6. 2Onion small sized finely chopped
  7. 1small Tomato (finely chopped)
  8. 1 tspChilli paste(used spicy one, you can adjust as per taste)
  9. 5-6garlic cloves (finely chopped)
  10. 1 tspKasuri Methi
  11. 2 tbspCoriander leaves (finely chopped)
  12. 1 tspBaking soda
  13. 11/2 tsp Baking Powder
  14. 1 tspLemon
  15. As neededOil for frying

Steps

  1. 1

    Soak Chana Dal for 3 hours approximately.

  2. 2

    Drain the water. In a mixer jar, add soaked Chana Dal, Fennel seeds, Salt, Garlic and Red chilli powder.

  3. 3

    Grind it into a smooth paste.

  4. 4

    Transfer the dal mixture into a bowl, and add Onions, Tomatoes, Coriander, Chilli paste, Kasuri Methi and Garam masala. Mix it well.

  5. 5

    Again in a grinding jar, add Walnut and a little Butter to it. Gring it into fine powder.

  6. 6

    Add the Walnut powder into the Chana Dal mixture and mix well if needed add some water.

  7. 7

    Then add Baking soda and Baking Powder to it. Add lemon on top of it so it will react. Mix it nicely. Don't over mix.

  8. 8

    Heat oil and fry the bites.

  9. 9

    And it's ready. Serve hot.
