You can quickly assemble this as these ingredients are readily available at our homes and relish it with bowl of curds or white butter, some tomato sauce or chutney and even a raw garlic with it.
Steps
- 1
Wash and soak the flattened rice in a bowl of water for 10 minutes. The quantity of water should be just the level of the flattened rice. It will soak all the water and get into a soft kneadable consistency.
- 2
Then mix flattened rice, wheat flour, chickpea flour.
- 3
To these add salt, turmeric, red chilli, coriander powders cut onions, fresh green coriander, green chillies cut with very little water and knead it.
- 4
Finally add a dash of oil to make the kneaded dough smooth.
- 5
Then take a tawa or frying pan and heat it on a medium flame.
- 6
When the pan is hot, drizzle small tsp of oil to it. Meanwhile make small sized rotis out of the dough. Use a butter paper or brown paper to roll it out with your palm. Dip your fingers just in a water bowl which will help you roll out the thalipeeth.
- 7
When the oil you have added sizzles get the gas on a low flame and lay the thalipeeth on the pan gently. Then get the flame back to medium. Beginners be careful when you lay the thalipeeth on the tawa or pan.
- 8
Then you will find one side getting roasted. You will see brown spots coming. Then turn sides and add abit of oil all round the thalipeeth. Remove from fire and serve with dollops of white butter or curd.
