I want to experiment with reducing sugar and replacing dairy, but haven’t deviated from what’s below. I can vouch that the quality of what’s already here is fantastic, though!

I want to experiment with reducing sugar and replacing dairy, but haven’t deviated from what’s below. I can vouch that the quality of what’s already here is fantastic, though!
Cooking Instructions

In saucepan, mix the 1c portion of cream with sugar and salt.

Warm mixture over medium heat (simmer) until sugar dissolves
- 3
Remove from heat and add remaining 3/4 c cream, milk, and vanilla.

Stir and chill in fridge
- 5
Wait.
(Roughly a couple hours to allow it to chill)

Once chilled, whisk once more then pour into ice cream maker to churn. Follow device instructions. (This is where the estimated ice and rock salt values come in)

A friend asked me when I was going to make them some chocolate ice cream the night before their birthday....I added chocolate chips this time, but this ice cream tastes great without it. It would probably taste lovely with nuts as well It's important to mix in the 2 tablespoons of whipped cream in Step 2, otherwise the batter won't will mix well; Just take a bit of cream from the large bowl. I love homemade ice cream. My family would make this often during summer time as I grew up. We double the vanilla because we like the flavor. But you can change the flavor by adding your favorite flavoring. Also we have made peach, strawberry, and banana nut with this same recipe simply by adding the fruit and nuts directly to the mixture. 1953kenny
