Ingredients

  1. 3-15 ozcans cannellini beans
  2. 2-28 ozcans Bush's Brown Sugar Hickory baked beans
  3. 1/2 cupmolasses
  4. 1 cupketchup
  5. 1/4 cupyellow mustard
  6. 1/2 cupMrs. Butterworth syrup
  7. 1 Tbspdried mustard
  8. 3 TbspWorcestershire sauce
  9. 1/4 cupgarlic chili paste
  10. 2-7 ozcans diced green chilis
  11. 2-4 ozjars diced pimentos
  12. 2 cupsdark brown sugar
  13. 3 poundssmoked bacon, diced
  14. 2large yellow onion, diced
  15. 8 clovesgarlic, minced
  16. 2 Tbsprendered duck fat
  17. 4 Tbspsmoked paprika

Cooking Instructions

    Heat 16" Dutch oven or equivalent, on medium high.
    Heat duck fat and brown onions half way.

    Preheat oven to 250°, place oven rack lower than center to allow for Dutch oven.

    Add bacon to onions, cook until browned, do not drain.

  4. 4

    Add all beans (do not drain), ketchup, mustard, mustard powder, syrup, molasses and Worcestershire, stir until color is consistent.

    Add brown sugar, minced garlic, diced pimentos, diced green chilis and garlic chili paste. Stir until mixed thoroughly.

    Add to oven and let bake uncovered for 3 hours. Beans will cook to a dark red, almost purple color. Serve hot. Also serve hot or cold the next day!

    If you like your beans on the thick side, make a quick roux using wondra or flour, add 1/2 cup of thickening agent and stir thoroughly.
