Today I have made this recipe for my loving mom, which is one of her favorite dishes and dedicated to her for women's day special... My mom is my inspiration...she is my strength...she is my "Cooking Guru" ... She is my motivator... She always motivated me and encouraged me every step of my life... This traditional Bengali recipe is one of my mom's favourite recipes. This is a signature Bengali fish preparation, where Bhetki fish along with a paste of mustard and coconut wrapped in banana leaf and cooked in slow flame.
Steps
- 1
Soak the yellow and brown mustard seeds and the poppy seeds for about 30 minutes.
- 2
Clean the bhetki and pat them dry.
Rub ½ teaspoon of turmeric powder, lemon juice, and salt and leave them for 10-15 minutes. - 3
Meanwhile, make a paste of the yellow and brown mustard seeds along with poppy seeds, salt, and green chilies.
- 4
To the paste, add ½ teaspoon of turmeric powder, grated coconut, mustard oil.
- 5
Now add the paste to the bhetki fish and marinate the fish for about 30 minutes.
- 6
Take the banana leaves, cut them to 6"/6" pieces, and clean them properly.
- 7
Take a tawa and roast the banana leaves on a very low flame for about 30 seconds.
- 8
To the banana leaves, add one spoon of marinade past and then add one piece of marinade fish.
- 9
Now add a little more of the marinade paste on top of the fish. Place a green chili on top of the fish.
- 10
Wrap the fish with banana leaves and close the parcel with a thread.
- 11
Wrap the fish properly such that the marinade does not come out of the parcel.
- 12
Now take a non-stick pan and grease some oil on it and place the banana leaf-wrapped fish pieces on it and cooked for 10-12 minutes in low - medium flame.
- 13
When one batch is done, remove them and keep it.. Again repeat the same process to cook the rest of the macher paturi.
- 14
Serve the freshly prepared steaming hot Bengali Bhetki Macher Paturi along with plain steamed rice.
