I recently tried to make a whiskey sour. There are only a few ingredients, but it seems that recipes vary the ratios. I think I have found the perfect combination.

Ingredients

1 drink
  1. 2 oza good bourbon or whiskey (I used Jack Daniel’s Gentleman Jack)
  2. 2 ozfresh squeezed lemon juice
  3. 2 ozsimple syrup (You can make your own syrup by heating 2 cups sugar in 2 cups water until all the sugar is dissolved)
  4. 1/2Egg whites from 1 large egg (This is optional but recommended as it gives a great head on the cocktail)
  5. Crushed ice
  6. Orange slice and maraschino cherry for garnish

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

To a tumbler add whiskey, lemon juice, simple syrup, and egg whites. Put lid on tumbler and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds. Pour contents over crushed ice in a glass. Add a maraschino cherry and a slice of orange. Serve and enjoy. For something different I used a blood orange for my garnish.

“Fenway” passed away on 2/3/2021. For the last year she tried to teach her husband of 42 years how to cook like her. Although I will never be as good of a cook as her she did pass on her passion for cooking. Therefore, I will attempt to carry on her legacy and maintain/update her site. My wife was a Registered Nurse, a licensed deep water aerobics instructor, a mother to our 2 children and a fantastic cook. We grew up in New England but have been fortunate to live all over the US. I am now retired, missing her terribly, but thankful for all the years we had together and all her cooking lessons.
