In a large sauce pan, put 2 quarts water, salt and beans into it. Boil for 2 minutes. remove pot from heat let stand for 1 hour.

Drain beans and throw out the liquid

Return beans to the pan

Put the other 2 quarts of water in pot

Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, simmer for 1 - 2 hours until beans are tender

Drain beans saving the liquid

Mix the beans with1 cup of the liquid, onion. molasses, yellow mustard, bacon, brown sugar dry mustard and the pepper

Place into a greased 2 1/2 quart baking dish, cover and bake at 325degrees. for about 3 hours until the beans are to your desired thickness. Stirring occasionally add more of the saved liquid if needed
