BBQ tofu teriyaki

I absolutely love cooking outside but I’m not very confident doing it, which means a rarely do it. I’m stuck at home this weekend and the sun is out so perfect time to practice. 🌞
I make @ruth1284’s teriyaki sauce here, first as a marinade for the tofu then thicken it to use as a sauce.

I make @ruth1284’s teriyaki sauce here, first as a marinade for the tofu then thicken it to use as a sauce.

Press the tofu by wrapping in a tea towel and placing under something heavy. I usually use a chopping board with a pan on top.

Mix a batch of teriyaki sauce - https://cookpad.wasmer.app/uk/r/15575978 - but don’t cook it yet. We’ll use as a marinade first.
Cut the tofu block in half, cover in the marinade and refrigerate for at least an hour.

When it’s time to cook, place the tofu on a hot BBQ turning regularly until it’s nicely charred.

Once the tofu is cooked pour the marinade into a pan and start to heat. Once it starts to bubble add the toasted sesame seed and cornflour mix.

(My outside heat source wasn’t hot enough to thicken the sauce, so I had to cheat for this bit!)

Drizzle some of the thickened sauce over the tofu and serve. You can store the rest of the sauce in the fridge for your next meal!
