Fancied gingerbread but decided to try and make some instead of buying
Steps
- 1
First weigh out flour, bicarbonate of soda, cinnamon and ginger and mix together in a bowl
- 2
Weigh out sugar, butter and golden syrup in another boel
- 3
Add sugar, butter and golden syrup to a small pan and put on the hob/stove to heat. Stir until melted then set aside to leave to cool a bit
- 4
Once the buttery syrup mixture has slightly cooled. Add it to the flour mix and stir to combine then use your hands to bring together to form a dough.
(Side note the dough should be soft)
- 5
Wrap up the dough in cling film and place in fridge for about 10 minutes or so
Turn on oven if you haven't already and heat to 190C/170C gas 5
- 6
Bring out the dough and unwrap from cling film.
Sprinkle some flour on counter top and roll out the dough until thin with a bit of thickness
- 7
Use a cookie cutter (I used an egg cup) to cut out shapes and place on a sheet of baking parchment.
Place in oven for 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes remove the gingerbread from oven and set aside to cool
- 8
Decorate or leave them plain and enjoy
