Ingredients

20 mins.
2people
  1. 1 cupblack gram lentil washed then soaked for 2hrs
  2. 1/2 tspcumin dry red chilli powder
  3. 1/4 tspblack salt
  4. 1/2 tspregular salt
  5. 1/4 tspchaat masala
  6. 1and 1/2 tsp sugar
  7. 1 tbspcumin seeds
  8. 2 cupsfresh yogurt
  9. 1green chilli finely chopped
  10. 4 cupswater
  11. 1-2 pinchhing
  12. somefinely chopped coriander leaves, some pomegranate seeds
  13. someLittle amount of grated carrot for garnishing

Steps

  1. 1

    Finely grind the soaked lentil. Transfer to a bowl and add finely chopped green chilli and some cumin seeds, salt. Mix well. Keep aside for 10 minutes by covering it. Then in a deep frying pan add oil and heat.

    Take a small amount of lentil batter in your palm and shape in to a vada. Deep fry in medium flame. Follow the above process to make more vadas. Cook until vadas become light golden brown. Then in a deep bowl add like warm water (4cups) add 1-2 pinch of hing. Mix well. Then after frying vadas put them in that Lukewarm water for 2 mins. The slightly squeeze the vadas by using your two palms. Then keep them in a plate.

    Next in a large bowl add yogurt, add salt, add sugar. Mix well. Then add the vadas in to it. Mix well carefully. Keep it aside for 1/2n hr.

    Now transfer them to a serving plate or bowl. Sprinkle some cumin dry red chilli powder, chaat masala. Sweet and tangy tamarind chutney, black salt.

  5. 5

    Garnish with some chopped coriander leaves, some pomegranate seeds, some grated carrot. Serve it.
