Steps
- 1
In a Dutch oven or large pot add a half inch of water and the sausages. Cook on medium heat until the sausages start to brown.
- 2
Add the beer and potatoes on top of the sausages. Add the spices and cover.
- 3
Let it cook until the potatoes are tender. (About 20 minutes.)
- 4
Serve sausages on a bun or, as my wife likes them, slice up the sausages and eat together with the potatoes.
- 5
Optional: add sour cream and cheddar cheese
- 6
Optional: replace half of the bratwurst with hot dogs for the children
