Grate 1/2 dry coconut and measure poppy seeds. Chop almonds and cashew nuts lengthwise.

Wash urad dhuli dal in running water thoroughly and place it in a colander to remove excess water. Water should be totally removed from dal.

Heat 2 tb spoon ghee in a heavy bottomed karahi. Add dal and dry roast while stirring continuously. Keep flame low.

Continue roasting till it turn pinkish and a sweet aroma starts coming. At this stage, switch off the flame and transfer the dal in a plate and let it cool.

Once cool grind it to a powder in the mixer.

Transfer the powder in the same karahi and add 2 tb spoon ghee and again start roasting on low flame till it turn pink and it starts leaving ghee.

Add poppy seeds and roast for 2 minutes. Now add grated coconut and roast for 4 minutes

Add 2 tb spoon ghee and mix. Now add cardamom powder and chopped almonds and cashew nuts (keep some for garnishing) and mix and keep on stirring till it mixes well.

Now add 1/2 litre full cream milk while stirring the mixture and cook on low flame till it turn thick. When the mixture turn thick add grinded sugar and mix.

Keep on stirring till it gets thick and all milk is absorbed completely. Now switch off the flame.

Transfer it in a serving bowl.

Serve hot with milk. It is very healthy and nutritious Indian dessert during winters.
