Fresh Green pigeon Peas or Tuvar Dana or Togarikaya or Togari Beans, by whatever name it might be known to us are abundantly available in the markets in Winters but only for a short duration. Therefore people make and relish as many dishes as possible within this short span. Togarikaya Usli, Togarikaya Sambar, dry Sabzi, Togari Aloo Curry etc are some of them. I wanted to make it along with Aloo and Methi both for a yummy change full of the goodness of these beautiful Greens.
The recipe is very simple. Nothing much complicated at all. Simple spices go into making this lip-smacking scrumptious dish that can be relished at mealtimes alongside both Rice and Rotis. Since it's a semi dry Sabzi, it goes very well with Rotis but with Rice, it needs a Daal to go with it or any other Curry or Gravy. I served it with Curry Leaves Rotis for Breakfast to my family.

Steps
- 1
Remove the seeds from the pods of green pigeon peas. Rinse them under running water and keep aside. Wash and chop the fenugreek leaves too. Wash and peel the potatoes and cut as desired. I cubed them into small size to be precise. This is actually done to facilitate some quick cooking as well as to give a great look to the dish in particular. However it's one's own choice after all. So do it accordingly guys.
- 2
In a pan, heat oil and add cumin seeds along with dry chillies and ginger garlic green chilli paste. Saute it for a few seconds and then add the sliced or chopped onions. Saute them for a few minutes or until they are translucent and then add the potatoes along with the spices as mentioned. Alternatively you can deep fry the potato cubes for 3 to 4 minutes and then add. It will give a nice flavour to the dish. Anyways that's purely optional.

Now add the fresh green pigeon peas to it and cook all on a low to medium high heat for about 20-25 minutes. You can boil them before adding but mine were very tender so i didn't boil nor used a pressure cooker. Adjust salt and add chopped coriander leaves too. Also add the fenugreek greens or methi as well. Add a cup of water too.

The dish is all ready to be served at mealtimes alongside rice and rotis or even both. It goes along well with both. Yum! Enjoy!
