Lightly mash the rice with your hands and add the salt and curd. Combine well. If the curd is thick add a few tablespoon of water to adjust the consistency

Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds allowing them to splutter.

Then add green chili and curry leaves. Fry until the chili and leaves start to change color.

Add urad dal, and red chili. Fry for 10-15 seconds. Until urad dal turns toasty brown

Add the tempering to the rice mixed with curd.

Add pomegranate arils and mix well. Serve with pickle(optional)
