Steps

Soak rice for 30 minutes.

Soak daal for few hours.

Boil daal till tender but not mushy.

Slice the onions and chillies.

Chop the tomatoes.

Grind ginger garlic into a paste.

Peel and cube potatoes.

Heat oil in a pan.

Fry onions till light golden.

Add in ginger garlic,tomatoes,chillies,turmeric,potatoes,salt,cumin and peppercorns.

Bhoono all well.

Add in daal and give it a good stir.

Add in rice.

Cook till water dries up.

When water dries up,cook covered on dum for 10 minutes.

Serve rice with raita and salad.
